Lucknow: More than 550 persons with disabilities from Lucknow and neighbouring areas registered for a free medical screening and selection camp organised by Narayan Seva Sansthan at Dayal Gateway Hotel in Gomti Nagar on Sunday. Following medical examinations, 301 beneficiaries were selected for artificial limbs, 153 for callipers, and 40 for free surgical procedures.
The camp was organised as part of the institution’s free disability welfare and rehabilitation initiatives. The inauguration was performed by BJP state vice-president Neeraj Singh and Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council member Pawan Singh Chauhan, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp. MLC Mukesh Sharma, Help U Educational and Charitable Trust founder Dr Harsh Vardhan Agarwal, Assistant Commissioner CSR Anand Kumar Pandey, Arise company managing director Abhinandan Singh, social worker Rajendra Barola, Chief Medical Officer Dr Manoj Kumar, Inner Wheel Club president Kavita Agarwal and social worker Pratibha Srivastava were among the prominent guests present.
Sunil Kumar Sinha, Jugal Kishore, Brijesh Gupta and Anil Srivastava also attended the programme.
Welcoming the guests, Narayan Seva Sansthan trustee-director Devendra Chobisa explained the organisation’s free service activities. He said a follow-up fitment camp would be organised in Lucknow after approximately two months for beneficiaries whose residual limbs had been measured during the camp. The selected beneficiaries would be provided Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs manufactured using Japanese-German technology.
Narayan Seva Sansthan president Prashant Agarwal said disability should never be treated as a limitation on a person’s abilities or dreams. He emphasised that access to proper medical care, artificial limbs and social support could help persons with disabilities become self-reliant and participate more actively in society.
“Financial constraints should not become an obstacle in the treatment and rehabilitation of anyone in need,” Agarwal said. He added that an artificial limb does more than address a physical limitation, as it also gives a person the opportunity to stand independently again and live with renewed confidence.
Chief guest Neeraj Singh said he had previously witnessed the service activities of Narayan Seva Sansthan. He praised the organisation’s work in providing free education, medical treatment and employment support to persons with disabilities, describing its efforts as an act of devotion and service to humanity.
In his presidential address, Mukesh Sharma called for such free and selfless initiatives to be expanded with greater support from society. Camp in-charge Hariprasad Laddha said the guests interacted with the institution’s prosthetics and orthotics team to understand the process of measuring residual limbs and the technology used in manufacturing artificial limbs.
